Been a little busy around here. Everyone needs to be safe tonight while setting off fireworks. Enjoy yourself and did anyone see the beautiful display of the Capitol fourth of July show on PBS? Holy Cow, those were some incredible fireworks, and the whole show was fabulous.
Ok, so I've decided to give a craft tip each week to you guys. I am the Queen of Crafting. Well actually the Queen of Everything. So if you craft, or want to pass on to a friend who might be stuck for ideas. I have 3 deco books I've done with a round robin and a lot of cards, scrapbooks, etc. I know what I'm talking about, is what I'm trying to say, so I shall share my creativity with you all cuz to be honest, all my energy is going into writing these days.
WOW, the stuff I find in my craft room, you cannot fathom the stuff i have and have kept to use as "found art" it is stuff you can tear up, like a dictionary, maps, cards, dominoes, board games, pieces to games. flowers, stickers. actual wallpaper samples childrens books you can make anything look antique or even the compasses I have. Really Michaels and Ben Franklingand Hobby someplace have NOTHING on the stuff I've found this month. You know, if I were still doing it, I would need that stuff. But I have thousands of dollars invested in this craft stuff. I'm going to sell most of it and even the 'found art' will be sold. People might want to tear out their favorite passage from the bible in German or Japanese or English and put it on a card or in a scrapbook. Color the edges of the page to match the type of page you are working on and Voila! a masterpiece. So here is my tip for the day for my crafters out there:
Use something you normally would not. It doesn't matter if you are making a card, a book, or a scrapbook, take a piece out of a dictionary, shorthand book, atlas, poetry, calendar, whatever you have, tear it so it fits your space take a color pad or a marker or a paintbrush or chalk and color the edges of the piece you tore out. Don't make it too linear, burn the edges is always nice too, then put in your project, and look at the wonderful effect that 'found art' can do for you. Next week we will explore what to do with jewelry you no longer use. Or earrings that have only one, don't toss it, you can use it.
I've decided to do a recipe once per month as well. So in the next few days I will share with you the BEST Key Lime Pie you will EVER have and it takes only 10 minutes to make. I got it from a cruise ship chef. am not gonna tell you what I had to do to get it. Suffice it to say it was a Greek crew, my second favorite flavor, it was Greek Easter and OMG... Becky & I went to the crew party. Oh man, that was fun. Danced until 6am, drank Ouzo, the captain dancing on the tables and lots of OPA! going on. Really all I had to do was ask the chef, he just gave it to me. Anyway, by 7am, the waitstaff had the dining room all cleaned and ready to go. Those guys work like dogs. Otherwise that trip was like the posiedon adventure.
This week also let's do something new. No matter what it is, get out there and get out of your comfort zone and do something cool, fun, challenging or whatever. Then let me know what you did. I'm going to do the same thing. I'll report back by next week what I did that was outside my comfort zone. Outside is pretty much outside my comfort zone. So whatever I do, it's gonna entail outside I bet.
Does anyone have anything they want to bring up, talk about or anything? If not then I guess that this is it for today's nonsense. Everyone did get the update to my poetry site right? If not, let me know and I'll make sure you get it. it is on a post here, so check out all the other posts as well. I haven't read the news today, but perhaps some ranting by tomorrow. YAY, something to look forward to.
On that note. The CIA is pissed off that somebody hacked their website, You gotta wonder why a SECRET organization has a website to begin with huh? So is that where I apply to be a CIA assassin? Anyone have that web address? Idiots. Sheesh. That's our country....
Happy 4th of July and Peaceout my groovy friends.
