Check out this video Get the Best LBD for You

Check out this great MSN video: Fit Lab: Get the Best LBD for You

this is a great video. LBD means little black dress. You should NEVER be without one in your wardrobe arsenal. Perhaps that will tonight's subject. Yes. Let's talk fashion shall we?

I go to any store, market or mall and I swear to GOD I want to THROW my business cards at people and scream at them, you need me, you REALLY, REALLY need me.

So everyone, pajamas ARE NOT ok to go out in. They are fine for lounging about the house, but not to go to the mall. Not to go the movies nor to a restaurant. Once you leave your front porch, have some actual CLOTHING on. I have no idea when pajamas became acceptable fashion wear to go out in. I don't are if you are just running to the store or grabbing gas. When you leave the house, you need a top, a bottom and usually shoes of some sort.

I don't care if you wear a bra or not unless you need to, then have some pity on those of us that have to look at you. I don't care if you wear underwear underwear unless you are wearing a dress or skirt that shows your ass. BTW, in that case I must tell you something very disturbing. Are you sitting down? If your dress or skirt is that short, someone has obviously stolen the rest of your dress or skirt. I have no idea who these nefarious people are, but they are RAMPANT... so be careful and if your dress or skirt has been heisted, wear underwear. For God's sake. We have to look at you and I will throw a business card at you.

So for those followers that do not already know, I am a personal stylist. I will teach you how to camouflage those areas that bulge a bit, how to wear a bra that actually fits, how to walk in heels. I will show you how to look great and pull it off with absolute confidence. A pair of jeans and a shirt. No makeup is fine, that in a minute, hair up or a cap on, fine. Nice low maintenance outfit. With jeans, heels look best and make you walk SASSY... everyone say it with me SASSY!! No I am NOT kidding. A t-Shirt is fine. maybe some earrings, but accessories not essential and you are in an easy outfit, no PJ's and look FABULOUS...Confidence is the key.

For night, use the camouflage under your dress or whatever you are wearing. Accessorize the outfit even if just jeans. If jeans, go with a sweater or a tank with a cardigan or coverup over it. Use makeup. Again PJ's NOT ok for nightwear unless you are sleeping.

Also PLEASE people a $5000 fur coat and birkenstocks is not a fashion choice, it is fashion MURDER!!!

Make-up.....Yeah, STOP overdoing it. Daytime makeup should be a powder or foundation that has sunscreen. Sunscreen is ESSENTIAL ladies. It will stop you from aging. So a light lip gloss, lipstick or lipstain, a bronzer or light blush and mascara is all you need for the daytime. You do not need all the eyeshadow, eyeliner, etc. Not for day. Unless you are going to an event. More on that in a minute.

Nighttime makeup, if you are light skinned, use a light eyeshadow. Light on the bottom, dark in the crease & really light on the brow. A darker shade in the corners of your eyes. So make sure you are using the correct eye color for your skin shade. You do not want to look like a French whore. Use eyeliner and false eyelashes are fun. All the daytime makeup protocol would apply just add the eye stuff. A darker blush and lipstick. I use a product called Lipchic it is available at www.lipchic.com you apply it after your lipstick, and your lipstick stays on thru eating, drinking and the entire night.

Going to a daytime event? Light makeup is fine or eyeshadows and eyeliners are too. Keep them light in color tho. No false eyelashes for a daytime event. Accessories are essential for a daytime event. At the very least drop earrings. Minimal is best.

NEVER EVER go to bed with your make up on your face. It will sink into the pores and cake and give you breakouts and make your face age faster. ALWAYS remove makeup, use a toner, (I use generic witch hazel) then moisturize your eyes with an eye cream, your face with a night cream and your lips with vaseline.

In the morning, remove the heavy moisturizers by washing your face (I use Oil of Olay facial cloths) use toner, then eye cream, a very light moisturizer with SPF and lip conditioner. Moisturizer doesn't really matter, but I do like Olay products. I like Beauty Control and Almay.

If you are not going anywhere, give your face a rest from makeup while you are home. If you run to the store or to grab a coffee, give your face a break. It will keep you looking younger. If you have puffy eyes, use (I know it sounds ridiculous) some Preparation H cream on them and the puffiness goes away like magic.

Some tips on exfoliation. Scrubs. If you have tender skin, don't use them, they will tear your skin on your face. Use a mask instead. Then wash, use toner, moisturize. For lips, you can buy a really expensive product, or put some sugar on a toothbrushand gently go in circles on your lips. Voila! you now have smooth lips. use a conditioner or vaseline on them then.

Well I hope this has been helpful and informative. Let me know if you have specific questions.

So today's topic not too bad. I Love Fashion so it's easy to write about and to advise on. Trust me I am a professional.

Till next time my beloved followers.

  1. I have a pair of black on black print satin pjs that I have worn to a jazz nightclub- ok with heels, perfume and accessories - and no one guessed they were pjs! You would have love it! Rae... sexxaay - but yes, it drives me crazy that slippers and skimpy pjs are ever worn in public...even by teens.
I love 'what not to wear" tv- it's a great public service ad. Keep up the ranting, woman- you rock!

  2. Genie there is a big difference in PJ's that are more dressy than not dressy. The difference being the fabric, the weight & do they look like pajamas? I see some that are great & used to wear a night gown to work, but it looked like a silk dress. My boss picked it out. What I'm talking about are the PJ bottoms made of cotton or flannel that young people think is high fashion these days. Ridiculous.
